Key Capabilities and Features

• Vector Asset Locator installations add Location information to the stored properties of any IT asset that is RFID tagged. This information is used –
  • To verify location of assets during audit.
  • To know where scarce assets are currently being used.
  • To detect unauthorized movement of sensitive assets.
• To achieve these goals, the Vector Administrator Console is linked to the RFID vendor’s system through database synchronization and change detection. Every time an asset is confirmed in a particular location, the time and date is refreshed in the AM Console.
• Any changes of location are recorded in Change History, and change notification can optionally be sent to a Vector HelpDesk or Issue Tracker installation to create an issue ticket. Escalation rules in HelpDesk or Issue Tracker can be made sensitive to the identity of the asset.
• Most Asset Locator installations use a mode of RFID called ‘Dual Active’, in which the tags are powered and emit a ‘beacon’ signal at regular intervals. The beacon signal confirms the existence of the asset in a particular zone. Without this capability, location certainty is limited to the last known instance of an asset moving past a motion detection point such as a doorway.
